First Time Filmmakers Make Dreams Come True
Maybe it was the mojo of being stuck in LA.
Maybe it was the sheer boredom of a most inconvenient lockdown.
Whatever the case, DruChetti Entertainment is now making movies and making dreams come true back in Texas.

The happy ending of a lockdown story is just the beginning . . .
When Dru Miers and Chet Hamilton made their way to Los Angelas as seniors in the UT Film program, the word covid was just a whisper. That spring of 2020 looked promising indeed with internships at big name production companies.
By mid-March, though, the two Texans found themselves no longer showing up at studios and instead, biding time in their apartment. Going back to Texas seemed premature—what if the lockdown eased up? So, for almost three months, they did what they did best: they entertained themselves and each other—and ultimately formed a solid creative working relationship that is showing tremendous promise.
In August when they got back to Austin, it was suggested they do a free video for a local band to build their portfolio. So they met with singer Jo Ellen. Jo Ellen and her Box of Chocolates had thrived in the pandemic due to being able to play live music outdoors in amiable Texas weather. They were eager to have a video made—in fact, they requested that two be produced.
One of those videos was for a song titled Lone Star—a classic ballad about the iconic Texas beer and lost love. Dru and Chet were now DruChetti Entertainment and they produced the video but had a hankering to do more. Eventually they developed a plot that included the song, starred Jo Ellen and her guitarist boyfriend Dan and was set amidst the vibrant town of Georgetown.
Over the next two and half years, DruChetti worked regular jobs and on as many weekends as possible, they filmed. They called on fraternity brothers, parents, roommates and former classmates to fill roles in the movie.
In the meantime, the Box of Chocolates disbanded and a new musical entity, Lizzie Street, was formed—a duo with just Dan and Jo Ellen. The two were engaged, even. They leveraged just about every venue/location they could as well as friends and family alike to round out the improv-driven film and even formed their own little company, Lizzie Street Productions.
In the summer of 2023, the film held a private screening at the local Palace Theatre to a standing room only crowd. What started out as a ‘freebie’ portfolio-builder, has ended up as a sweet and hilarious mockumentary that is making the rounds of the film festivals and bringing home awards for the directors and cast.
